Minutes spent knitting: 90
Minutes spent unraveling bird's nest from previous attempt: 60
Minutes spent unraveling attempt of last nite and tonite because once again 87 stitches became more than 130: 2

Ronon Bear is holding the yarn for the next attempt... *yawn* which won't be tonite.

About the only thing I've not done this weekend is spam LJ. So here we go :)

Yesterday afternoon I picked up my new bike and took it for a spin. Spent an hour in the park learning how to get my feet in and out of the cages, which were tighter than the old ones, and learning to shift. The seat will, erm, take some adjusting too, but otherwise, wheeeee :) I didn't realize how hard my brother's bike was to ride until yesterday.

Meet Ianto teh Bike. Red is his colour. )

I also attempted to make a baby blanket for a friend of mine who just gave birth. The corners are a bit messy, the binding bunched in some spots, and I'm still having issues with stitches being straight. But, babies tend to throw up on these things anyway, right? And the rate people around here seem to be spawning I'll be getting more practice...

Spent a couple hours at Panera today - a few more weekends of this and they should know me there - and got 1000 words written. And I have borrowed knitting needles of the correct size to continue my project - perhaps the hat will be ready by next winter!

Had a very productive day today :) Saw 7 patients, though did not finish in time to haul self into Manhattan for writer's group so instead went to Panera where I managed 1067 words, three glasses of iced tea and three trips to oma, etc. Fortunately Chuck is too big to steal :P. I used my usual magic trick for jumpstarting writing, started a new story. *headdesk* It's a disease.

Went for a five mile run, will give myself another week before I add on mile six. Cut and coloured hair, tho it didn't come out quite as light as I was planning, it's just a shade darker than [livejournal.com profile] shippygem's.

Spent the evening thus far vegging. I now have only one unwatched episode of Spooks left *sads*. So I will save it for tomorrow, and read book club book. I have about 100 pages to go, and am loving it.

For those who had read "Fool" already, and also watched BSG last week and this week:

Yesterday was a long but fun day. Brunch, then parade, then party/music session at the Irish center in Queens, b/c you know there's no room for traditional Irish musicians in the pubs on St Patrick's Day. *rolls eyes* But our party was more fun anyway :)

I just got two books on knitting in the mail from [livejournal.com profile] philippacrawfor!!

*smooches*

But right now I need to make soda bread, and then chop veggies for the vegetarian chili I'm making for the girls for dinner. We are also going to make shamrock cookies, and watch Irish movies. I must keep up that party animal reputation, you know ;)

For the writers among us, interesting article here by Don Miller about action vs description, something I know I need to work on. And find a way to do it while keeping the word count up...

So I have knit something. Basically just a practice the stitches thing, but it made a good scarf for a teddy bear.

On the way home from parentals I stopped at Walmart and bought some fabric to attempt to bring my sewing to the next level and make something I can wear out of the house - a skirt.

Also bought knitting needles and yarn to attempt to learn to knit. I think I am officially nuts, not that I wasn't before.

Got some stuff at Eddie Bauer too *whistles innocently*, and then went to Harry and David for dark chocolate moose munch - yum! Got moose munch coffee also and ended up earning mum reward points *g*

Taxes are done - woohoo! I might have enough to get a bike *and* a kindle! I think I will make myself a rule that I have to hit the bottom of my to read pile before I can buy a kindle. Which means no new paper books, except book club books till these are gone. We'll see how that works.

Oh, [livejournal.com profile] philippacrawfor, I think i've figured out why I like CS Lewis so much - his nickname was Jack! Also, I have a third Spooks fic ready for you - regretting this yet?

Right. Foods and then walk on beach with mum. Now that time has actually changed, the clocks that my dad had already set at 2PM yesterday are no longer freaking me out...

Even though I did make it to writer's group last nite, I have done no writing yesterday or today. I was determined however to finish the pair of shorts I started last week so I could take them this weekend to show off to parentals.

Finished!! And this pair only took me one week, unlike the first which took me two. Someday perhaps I can even make a pair in the one hour the pattern advertises. And perhaps someday I can thread my machine without the cheat sheet...

I also took a pic of the tea pot I painted at the craft nite a few weeks ago.

piccies under cut )

I got home from Ork today in time to grab my snowshoes which I have not had out in years, and go for a walk in the park. Took some pics there with my phone, but so far have not had any luck in sending them to facebook, which had been the plan. Anyone have any suggestions?

I just did this Carbon Footprint Calculator and it tells me I am BigFoot!

How can this be??

Apparently I need to become an organic vegan posthaste!

Tho, I am a bit miffed they had no option for sewing own clothes. Yeah, I've made a pair and a half of shorts, but still. It should count for something.

So I almost killed my sewing machine yesterday. I figured I'm a pro now, I don't need to look at the book and follow the step by step directions anymore. I can wind a bobbin all by myself, right?

Wrong.

I didn't put the thread through the little guides, so the poor little bobbin kept winding and winding, until it filled the whole pole down into the machine with thread.

A half hour later, mess cleaned up, rats nest piles of thread in the garbage, I get out the book.

Step one....

And now I'm thinking of taking up knitting too. Am I a glutton for punishment, or what?

I have no phone, but internets are working.. Perhaps [livejournal.com profile] theyllek and I should pool our resources? Actually, it doesn't bother me too much - if it were the other way around I'd be freaking. tho I do have a neighbor with an unsecured router

So I called and dealt with the very annoying automated menu person at Verizon, who seemed to be getting more and more annoyed with me as I was not being very cooperative and kept asking to speak to a real person. She even told me huffily that the automated menu is fully qualified to solve many problems. Now I have visions of a Dr Who like incident where the AutoMatedMenuPeople come and attack me while I sleep....

Finally got a person, and did their prerequisite unplug replug everything etc, called back, dealt with AAMMP, got live person again, who agreed to send someone tomorrow between 8 and 2. Which means TehJerry will have to get his butt out of bed before I leave for Orks.

Dude just called me on my cell to say he tested the line and it appears to be working b/c it's rining. *rolls eyes* I pick up phone. Um, no dial tone. So you have to come, and fix the problem at the box, where it has been the last twenty times this has happened. He helpfully told me he'd also check my DSL, which is very nice, but that's working thankyouverymuch, as I am presently chatting with the Hungarian.

Right. Now back to making pancakes for Pancake Day.
