I finished my first knitting project - a hat - tonite :)

Next project - a shawl.

I really need to find some time to write...

Today I finished making a "one hour" shoulder bag to carry my knitting stuff. I'm improving. This time, one hour only took me two days. Would have been quicker but the machine refused to sew on the pocket properly and kept breaking the thread. On the plus side, i can now thread the machine without looking at the book.

I screwed up putting the lining in, did not follow the instructions properly, and so had to find a different way to get the edges to look decent. But all in all not too bad for a first attempt. And the strap is nice and long. Might even stay on my shoulder!

Yesterday I went out to the island with some dance buddies for a 'wimp walk' - walking in park and birdwatching. It was raining when we started, but as we set a precedent last time for not letting rain get in our way we went ahead. Just as we came out of the woods and onto a hill overlooking the sound, the sun came out, and stayed out for the rest of the day! I even got a little sunburned b/c I hadn't brought glasses or sunscreen. I had my driving glasses from the car, but they kept falling off when I put them on top of my head to use the binoculars.

we saw some lovely ospreys, including a mommy bringing back a fish to her baby, which sadly put the McD's commercial in my head and had me singing "Gimme da feeeeesh"

I waded in the water a bit and beach combed also - got to show off my North Shore Girl shell knowledge *g*.

Afterward we had dinner at a local diner and drove home along the water with a gorgeous sunset.

Today the weather was not so nice. We had the Irish Dance Festival in Riverside park, which fortunately had a rain location under the the highway (way nicer than it sounds), but not too much of a crowd. We had fun anyway and my drum sounded great. Everything in my bag, my bag, and my clothes and jacket are still damp tho.

Piccies later in the week, for I am about to faceplant. marathon continues with Book Club tomorrow nite, then Monk Lessons and Irish session Tues. Thurs I have off, but my to do list, which I think has grown teeth and might bite me soon, has already eaten it.

I had a light day patient-wise, so I went out to find the nearest Wal-Mart in Nassau County. It was actually on the way to Trader Joe's, and has apparently been there all along.

Anywho, I am now in possession of Fusible Interfacing, which I now need to figure out what to do with, two more skeins (hehe - did you notice that? skein? I'm gettin' this knitting language down.) of camo yarn for to attempt a shawl, and some brown yarn to make a scarf for TehJerry.

Then I came back and crashed for two hours, for some strange reason, and woke up just in time to get to whistle class. Now I'm tired again *shrug*

So will make some hot choc and read book till bedtime. Also should clear pile of SkillzMaterials off the bed...

And my bike can bounce! Unfortunately I don't. Turned a corner a little too sharply yesterday, and the treads on my new mountain bike/hiking shoes got caught in the pedal cage strap and I couldn't catch myself. So down we went. Right in front of a dad and small child, no less. Skinned and bruised my knee, but Ianto has not a scratch. I took pic of leg and texted to theyllek, as I thought she'd be proud.

After icing and elevating last nite was feeling much better this am, until I got into the car after my first patient and saw blood trickling down my leg. The stupid thing started bleeding again and soaked through the bandaid. So at my next patient I borrowed some supplies and put a big honkin bandage on, much to her amusement.

She was on the phone with her daughter "Yeah the nurse is here. She's done with me. She's doing her own dressing now...." The aquacel I swiped should do the trick :->

I need to get something to stay put b/c am going dancing later...

Oh and I also went to Chiro and got back cracked after work, and then came home and cleaned out file cabinet. The one that hasn't been cleaned out since we moved here. I found old typewritten manuscript of my (still unfinished) start trek novel from college, my old Sharp Wizard organizer with one whole megabyte of memory, and a real antiquity: floppy disks!

So far a productive start to the weekend :)

And the Mets are in their first rain delay at Citifield, at the train stop "formerly known as Shea" Go them.
