I'm back in case anyone missed me ;)
Ahhhhhhhhh 10 days on a sailboat and two on the beach and I come home to a snowstorm. What up w/ dat? LOL And then today my car won't start, had to call tow truck and all that jazz so now I start work tomorrow instead. Ah well. Anyway on to the highlights:
We rented a sailboat out of Placencia, Belize, - a 40 something foot catamaran (sp?) Ya know, the one w/ the two nacelles in the front ;) If anyone from the boat is reading this, yes that was a science fiction reference ;)
We sailed around little desert islands - awesome swimming and snorkelling, w/ no one else around, except a lonely park ranger and a caretaker named Hector who cooked conch for us from his conch ranch. Sailed along the reef, which was really trick b/c off all the coral popping up - the place was aptly named The Badlands and would make a good video game I think... so had to pretty much stop sailing and use the motor. But the nite we were achored there we saw HUGE sea turtles. Swam w/ them too and hopefully the pics will come out.
Had a couple days of great fast sailing - rode dangling legs off the front of the boat and bounced up and down in the waves, getting completely soaked - sooooo much fun. At one point we had a dolphin swimming around and under the boat keeping pace with us. He was right under my feet at one point, turning over to show me his tummy. I named him Danny. :::waits for Yllek to snerk:::
One other naming didn't go as well - I named the dingy Irma and she was not pleased. She proceeded to ram me when I was on the stairs, leaving me a nice wormhole shaped hematoma on my thigh. Then she ran away at nite, so I had to rename her after she was found, and after that she was a perfect lady. And the others were able to identify me by my bruise when snorkeling, so that worked out just fine.
Hmmm don't know what else to say at the moment, just lots of gorgeous sunrises and sunsets, moonrises, etc. I popped out of the gopher hole in the top of my cabin to watch them in the AM. Will post the scenery pics and the pics of me making a general arse out of myself on AG when I get them, if Mesh is nice enough to allow that ;)
Oh and one of the best bits of the trip happened on the way back - we were originally supposed to fly from Belize to Dallas, then to DC then wait 6 hours for the shuttle home. The plane from Belize ended up delayed, and we were told by the airline that if we missed our connection they would pay for a nite in a hotel in Dallas then send us on a direct flight to Laguardia in the AM. So we were praying for more and more delay while all the others on the plane were grumbling and moaning :)) We landed w/ 1/2 hour to get our bags, go through customs and recheck bags. So we took our sweet old time, missed the connection and spent the nite in Dallas, and got home just before the snow :) Now I hear Michael Shanks and Christopher Judge were in Dallas that same nite! Arrrrrrrrrrrgh!! Tho it's not like I didn't just see them in NJ this summer...
Now home and sniffling and back to work tomorrow. Sigh. I know not a soul is feeling sorry for me ;)
