Today I met up w/ a friend from dance class and her niece and we went to the annual Medieval Festival at The Cloisters, actually in the park surrounding the museum, with gorgeous views of the Hudson River and that strange state on the other side. ;)
I was not in costume, tho Nancy swears she's getting me into garb next time :-S. Actually I prefer the men's garb - like pirate shirts and leggings to the many skirts of women. I guess if I'd lived 1500 years ago I'd have been a cross dresser...

The Cloisters, taken while listening to band at the Pageant Wagon and waiting for friends.

The band I was listening too - The Crimson Pirates

And Gianna, the wench in training.
So after the spicy veggie pie, the fried dough, wanting to get mead but the line was way too long, and the huge amoothie purchased in Penn Station b/c was totally craving fruit and liquid, it's a good thing I had 28 flex points left for the week!
Oh also bought a unicorn tapestry bag, and checked out many clothing places, didn't buy anything but may in future buy something here
Oh and no Mets games till Wed, so take a deep breath y'all ;)

The boots came from Mexico.
The top was made by my sister who has far too much time on her hands and actually sews costumes. She's made herself many, many over the years. And come to think of it, I need to get her to make me a smaller shirt. I'm swimming in the one I've got now because I think it was originally intended for my brother.
The cloak I made myself. It took an insane amount of time, but I was determined. I think I still have the pattern around somewhere if you want/need the number.
I'll try to find a decent picture to send along. I'm not actually sure if I'm in any of the pictures we have of our RenFest adventures. (Besides the one of the whole family that's on the desk at work, but that pic really doesn't show the costume well and makes me look like my chest sticks out 3 feet.)

And I used pattern C.
I have to say I had intended to make a cloak with sleeves (more of a robe, maybe?), but this one's pretty nice.
I just went to Butterick's site but can't find that pattern to send you a link to. :-( I did, however, find a pattern like the cloak I'd meant to make: http://store.sewingtoday.com/cgi-bin/butterick/shop.cgi?s.item.B4050=x&TI='cape'&page=2
so now I may have to make another one. :-)
Found it on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250021213453&category=11801
and one site has it listed as "LOTR Galadriel's Grey Haven's Cape"
Still looking for a pic of me. May have to scan in that dratted one from work.
